What is the purpose of a submersible pump?
Borewell Submersible pumps are intended for use in bore wells when the pump is completely submerged. These pumps work by forcing water through a succession of stages to the surface or above the earth, where it can be used (a stage includes an impeller and a diffuser). A prime mover, usually an electric motor, is connected to the pump.
A suction pressure is formed at the impeller’s eye as the prime mover starts and the shaft spins, allowing water to travel through the impeller vanes.
As the water flows through these vanes, it generates kinetic energy and exits the impeller to the diffuser above it. The fixed diffuser then turns the kinetic energy of the water into pressure (head). Depending on the total dynamic head required for the application, the water passes through a succession of phases. Certain submersible pumps can hold solids well, while others are only productive with liquids. These are quiet as they are underwater, and also, since there is no point in pressure with the water flowing through the pump, cavitation is never a issue. Now that the principal are clear.
What is the proper way to install a submersible pump?
Borewell submersible pumps have an anticorrosive liquid filled motor from the manufacturer. Fill the motor completely with pure drinking water by pouring it in via the drain plug until it overflows into the second drain plug. After filling, tighten the drain plugs. The PVC insulated cable must then be correctly connected to the external supply wires. The motor is attached to the pump after assuring free rotation, and the pump set is verified for proper play.
